CT Cannabis Licensing News

Congratulations to SLG client Grow Green Girls Inc. on receiving their provisional Cannabis Transportation Licenses! Back in June, we completed 27 submissions for the Social Equity Applicant Lottery. Our client received the only two Social Equity Licenses for Transporters in CT. Next we will help them submit for a permanent licenses, which includes completing additional applications.

The application process in Connecticut is complex and time consuming. While our client met all the criteria for the Social Equity License, there are aspects of the current process that seem tailored to large corporations that can afford to submit multiple applications in an effort to improve their odds over other social equity applicants. A few Connecticut legislators recently submitted bills to reduce the number of applications any one entity could submit, or increase the fees for multiple submissions. Either bill could undergo multiple revisions before being voted on and would likely not go into effect until next year, but it is good to see our state legislators paying attention and willing to address this issue.
